Three Wildcat track and field athletes competed Saturday at the University of Washington Last Chance Meet in Seattle, looking to qualify for next week’s NCAA Championships.  Unfortunatley for the Wildcats, none of the three reached the qualifying standard for the national meet.

Senior Sariah Long finished second in the 5,000 meters but her time of 16:51.44 did not reach the NCAA standard.  The time, however, is a career best for Long and ranks as the third best in Weber State history.

Last weekend Long captured conference titles in the mile run and 3,000 meters at the Big Sky Championships in Pocatello.  She now prepares for the outdoor track season where she earned All-American honors in the steeplechase last season.
Two other Wildcats also competed Saturday in Seattle.  Senior Lucas Eddy finished third in the men’s high jump with a mark of 6-08.75.  Last weekend Eddy won the high jump at the Big Sky Championships and earlier this season he posted a career-best jump of 6-11.00, tied for the sixth best in Weber State history.

The other Wildcat to competed did so in two events.  Senior Terrell Brown finished fourth in both the triple jump and the long jump but failed to qualify in either event.  He posted a mark of 22-07 in the long jump and 47-06.50 in the triple jump.  Brown won the Big Sky title in the triple jump and was second in the long jump and the 60 meter hurdles at the Big Sky meet.  His career at Weber State is now over as he does not have outdoor track eligibility.

Weber State senior Seth Pilkington is now the only Wildcat with a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships.  Pilkington entered the week 12th in the nation in the 5,000 meters and will see if that gets him into the national meet which will be held next Thursday-Friday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
